We were in a front page story in McKinney Today newspaper recently and the article said the following:
McKinney, Texas- With the recent price of gold setting an all time record high, local jewelers in Collin County are seeing an influx of individuals wanting to cash in on the high prices and clean out their jewelry boxes.
With gold trading at over $1,000 an ounce, rings, necklaces, damaged jewelry and mismatched earrings are being brought in on a daily basis by individuals simply wanting to rid themselves of unwanted items and on a sad note, others who are in desperate need of fast cash.
"Due to the increasing gold prices, we have many customers who are selling their old jewelry, such as broken chains, earrings, nugget jewelry and old wedding rings. It is exciting to see their faces when I tell them how much these old discarded pieces are worth. Some choose to take the cash, others trade in their old outdated pieces on new pieces. Either way, it is a WIN-WIN situation for all" commented Cherye Walker, owner of Griffin Jewelry in McKinney. "We have been here for 25 years and do not understand why anyone would put their gold in an envelope and mail it off to someone unknown, when they can do business with us locally, face to face, and not have to wait."
